     - Oases Tours

.

Baharia Oasis: the first to be encountered, lies in a depression about 300 km south-west of Cairo. From an archaeological point of view, little seems to have survived the pharaonic period.

Dakhla Oasis: has been populated for over 10,000 years. It is the productive centre of the New Valley with lush fields and orchards. The sands around it are golden and the earth is red. The backdrop to this oasis is a high, pink-shaded escarpment.

Farafra Oasis: the roan between Dakkla and Farafra was the first paved road in the New Valley scheme. It is a desolate, long drive of 310 kilometers; you can shorten it just a bit by cutting across the eastern edge of the Great Sand Sea, where you will experience numerous wonderful mirages..

Kharga Oasis: All the oases have always been crossroads of caravan routes converging from the barren desert. In the case of Kharga, this is made particularly evident by the presence of a chain of fortresses that the Romans built to protect the Darb el-Arbain, the long caravan route running north-south between Middle Egypt and the Sudan.

Dates: 26th September 2005 and 15th April 2005

Siwa Oasis is famous for its dates and olives, and is one of the most beautiful landscapes in Egypt.

Siwa is the westernmost of the five major oasis of Egypt and can be reached by car from Baharia or from Marsa Matruh, on the Mediterranean coast

Its rich history includes a visit from Alexander the Great to consult the Oracle of Amun in 331 BC.

Siwa Oasis was called Santariya by the ancient  Arabs, as well as the Oasis of Jupiter-Amun, Marmaricus
Hammon, the Field of Palm Trees and Santar by the ancient Egyptians.
