Residential Tourism Mission & Conference

5th - 10 of Feb. 2005) Under the auspices of

H.E Mr. Ahmed

El Magrahby

Minister of Tourism

A country full of history, mystery and intrigue.

Our aim is to send the participating Microlights in containers to Alexandria mid December 2005

The rally will start from Alexandria on the Mediterranean Sea in January 2006  and fly to Aswan where the Nubian Desert begins.

You will have the opportunity to fly over a unique country with over 7000 years of history.

You will see the breathtaking works of the Pharaohs, from the massive stone bulks of the pyramids to the graceful columns and stern colossi of Karnak.

Egypt is shaped by the Nile and most of its people live as they have always done,

a few hundred metres from this extraordinary life-giving river.18 million people live in Cairo one of the world’s largest cities, yet only a few miles outside there are delta villages where rural life has changed little in centuries.

The flight path will take us from Alexandria, the country’s second largest city and majors seaport, crossing over the cultivated delta area, a picturesque region with its colourful mud-brick villages with fields of sugar cane and cotton fields, to Cairo. We will stay overnight in Cairo and have time to visit

the Pyramids before setting off to Assut, en route we pass Tell el-Amana, the capital of the reforming Pharaoh Akhenaten (father of Tutankhamun), followed by Abydos with its temple sacred to Osiris, next comes Dendera which has a most impressive temple complex, then to Luxor, (Thebes).

Luxor has 17% of the monuments of the entire world, it is the world’s greatest outdoor museum filled with awe-inspiring monuments of ancient civilisation, a fantastic place to see from the air. We will stay overnight in Luxor then set off to Aswan passing en route the locks of Esna and the temples at Kom Ombo and Edfu. At Aswan you can see the first mighty Nile cataract, Elephantine Island and the High Dam.

The trip will take 14 days. We anticipate flying between 4-6 hours a day. Average temperature will be 24 degrees with 11 hours of daylight. A full support crew will follow on land so there will be little to carry on the Microlights. For comfort we will stay in 4-5* hotels.

We will welcome wives / partners and spectators and if they would like a few days on a Nile Cruise then we can arrange this.
