Day 1
|
:
|
Arrive
Cairo where you will be met on
arrival and taken for a 2 night stay at a
5* hotel in the Giza Pyramids area of Cairo, on
a bed and breakfast basis.
Cairo
is an amazing capital city and we have arranged for you to see
all the most important sites
|

Day 2 |
: |
Visit:
The Giza
plateau – the home of the Great
Pyramids and the only present day survivor of the Wonders
of the Ancient World, built over 4500 years ago.
The Sphinx,
an ancient figure shrouded in legend and mystery.
Cairo
Museum which houses over 200000 antiquities and
of course the famous treasures of the Tutankhamun
exhibition.
A stroll through the famous old bazaar of Khan El
Khalili takes us to where we have lunch. |

Day 3 |
: |
We
start our desert circuit.
The
Western Desert is still a place of mysteries and legends,
approx
1000km of road connecting Cairo and Asyut
via
the four oases offers one of the most exciting drives in Egypt
Arrive at Bahariya,
having past the Black
Desert so
called as it is covered with black stone, staying at Peter
hotel – basic but ok |

Day 4 |
: |
We
visit the ancient tombs of Baharia Oasis and if
possible we can have a look at the most famous archaeological
discovery of the valley of the golden mummies.
Then
we travel through the surreal landscapes of the White
Desert to the Farafra Oasis. The most isolated and
most beautiful of the Oases with only one inhabited village.
We stay at the Aqua Sun hotel. – basic and ok.
The
main attraction is undoubtedly the magnificent
White
Desert with fantastic chalk sculptures, eroded by the wind,
which
change with the light from white to gold to deep purple at
sunset. |

Day 5 |
: |
Driving
in from the desert Dakhla Oasis appears as a feast of
colours with vibrant green fields, red earth and a pink
coloured escarpment. We stay at the 3* hotel of El Negoum
Hotel for 2 nights. The hot springs here are
recommended for rheumatism, colds and skin diseases. |

Day 7
|

|
We
arrive at El-Kharga Oasis where we stay at the 5*
Pioneers hotel for 2 nights.
This
makes a good base to explore some fine pharaonic and Christian
ruins.
the
Temple of Amun, Necropolis of El-Bagawat,
Christians were
buried in chapels with fine murals. The road to Baris
follows the slave route that until 1884 crossed the desert
from Darfur in the Sudan to Asyut.

| Day
9 |
: |
On
the way to Luxor we have a look at the village of
Hassan Fatehy and visit the temple of Elghouwita.
Arrive in Luxor where you will be taken to your hotel,
Sheraton 5* or Mercure 4* for 2 nights.
Luxor
has 17% of the monuments of the entire world.
Visit:
Karnak Temple – which surpasses every other
pharonic temple with over 40 hectares devoted to the gods. For
13 centuries successive pharaohs helped to make this the most
magnificent temple complex in the country and in the entire
ancient world.
Luxor Temple – is well preserved because it
was mostly covered by sand until the 19th century
when the houses of the town were slowly cleared away from it.
Colossi of Memnon – are 2 statues 19.5metres
high which once guarded the gates of
a mortuary temple now sit peacefully amid the sugar
cane fields.
Valley of the Kings and Queens – Entering the
royal tombs at Thebes is like following the pharaohs on
their journey to the underworld. |
